До сих пор приходилось "распознавать" PDF с помощью FineReader 6-7, а теперь есть Solid PDF to Word converter. Заявлена работа с русским языком.

Я бы попробовал пробную версию.

Бесплатные инструменты вроде openOffice.org уже отлично создают PDF, но открывать PDF с сохранением форматирование - совсем другая задача. Особенности русского языка тоже мешают правильно открывать файлы - русские буквы хранятся в латинице и подставляются хитро в шрифтах...

How can I save a already generated PDF file into a Word Doc format? Step-by-STep procedures would be greatly appreciated.

If you have Acrobat 6, you can do this with a Save As:
Open your PDF file and select the "File>Save As..." menu item.
On the file selection dialog select the "Save as type" as "Microsoft Word Document (*.doc)" and specify a file name that ends with .doc (this extension will automatically be added if you don't). For some of the output formats (e.g. the Word format) the "Settings" button gets activated, which allows you to specify some conversion features (e.g. images and resolution).

If this does not give you the desired results (this will e.g. not work with image-only files, and the layout is only an approximation of the original layout), you can use tools like ScanSoft's PDF Converter 2 (just released, and if you have OmniPage installed, it will even convert image-only documents): http://www.scansoft.com/pdfconverter/standard/
Abbyy announced a similar tool: http://www.abbyy.com/pdftransformer/ - it's not yet available

Adobe предоставляет бесплатный конвертер из PDF в текст (HTML и т.п.)

На сегодняшний день с конвертацией pdf в doc более-менее адекватно справляются две программы:

ABBYY PDF Transformer и Solid Converter PDF

Все остальные или со слоями разобраться не могут (делают половину текста картинкой и тд) или вообще ужас производят.

Solid Converter- вещь хорошая, удобно встраивается в Word. Вот только у меня работает очень медленно(словно DVD-фильм кодирует), посему пользуюсь очень редко. Раньше печатал нужные мне страницы в файл потом распознавал FineRider`ом- неуклюже, но проще не придумалось.
